NORTH CHARLESTON—Hakeem Wayne Johnson, 18, was arrested and charged with murder in connection to a June 23 shooting that left one man dead.
North Charleston police officers responded to the 5700 block of Dakota Street around 10:15 p.m. They found a victim lying unresponsive in the road, NCPD spokesperson Harve Jacobs said.

The victim was identified on June 25 as Derrick Cobbs, 36, from North Charleston. He was pronounced dead at the Trident Medical Center later that night.

Johnson was arrested on June 24, according to Charleston County inmate records. He waswalking on Gable Street when officers took him into custody, Jacobs said.
He is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Records show he was denied bond and being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
