I was a football player at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA for 4 years out of high school. I felt as if I got all the good out of the experience, but just needed and desired more to room to grow in a different environment. My brother lives in Baton Rouge and is a LSU graduate so he was recruiting me hard to transfer there. I prayed about it and felt that I should attend LSU because it was always my dream school, and boy, let me tell you, it has been a phenomenal experience here. I could not form a true complaint if I had to, the people here are great, the students are great, the opportunities are great, just everything here is outstanding. Forever LSU, Geaux Tigers!

LSU is a great school for engineers, business, and mass communication. They offer many resources and opportunities to succeed. As an engineer, I feel supported in all of my career endeavors. All of my professor are willing to work with me through any obstacle. However, the social aspect was personally hard to adapt to because not everyone has the same mindset and goals. Some student's main reason for attending LSU is to party. Not to say that's a bad thing but it's hard to relate to others because I have a very different definition of fun. Since the campus population is so large finding someone that you share commonality with takes time.
Each year the freshman population also grows and that puts a strain on returning students' ability to obtain housing. LSU has a housing crisis which will continue until more housing is built. I do not like the fact that majority of my peers live off-campus. I think it personally takes away from the community feeling.

Overall, I am happy with my experience at LSU, academically, the professors were willing to answer any doubts in class, during office hours, or through Outlook. As a math major, the university offers several concentrations, allowing me to explore different career paths in mathematics as early as my freshman year. In addition, I hope to participate in the available research opportunities in math next year. I appreciated the presence of the individuals who constituted my "support" team, particularly, my academic coach who helped me with study techniques for biology since I struggled with it. Socially, there are many opportunities to meet great people, and the university hosts fun events throughout the year.
What I would change, however, are some issues regarding the university's housing. In the residence hall of two friends, there was a rat in the ceiling that they never got rid of. Also, there were a few complete power outages that also had the effect of closing the dining halls.
