Cedar Rapids Police arrest seven people in an undercover operation (5)

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) -- The Cedar Rapids Police Department arrested 7 people in an undercover operation.

According to a release, the undercover operation was targeting subjects who were attempting to engage in sexual relations with a person they believed to be a minor.

The operation was centered around individuals who were utilizing social networking applications to meet with a person who they had reason to believe was under the age of 16-years-old.

In cooperation with the Linn County Attorney's Office, there were 7 people who were arrested and charged, with an eighth arrest that is upcoming.

Lieutenant Tony Robinson of the Cedar Rapids Police Department Criminal Investigation Division said in the release, "Operations like this are a key component in CRPD’s ongoing efforts to provide a safe and secure community for all," He added, "This kind of work isn’t often seen by residents until arrests are made public, but we are constantly engaged in efforts to hold criminals accountable for their actions."

The following individuals were arrested and taken to the Linn County Correctional Center:

Coady Wayne Tallman, age 33, from Cedar Rapids was charged and arrested on June 11, 2024, for:
- Enticing a Minor under 16
- 2 counts of Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor
- Sex Offender Registry Violation – Providing False Information
Adam Russel Darling, age 42, from Cedar Rapids was arrested and charged on June 12, 2024, for:
- Sex Offender Registration Violation
Kenneth Merle Ruby, age 43, from Cedar Rapids was arrested and charged on June 12, 2024, for:
- Sex Offender Registration Violation
Aaron Justice Dicken, age 29, from West Branch, Iowa was arrested and charged on June 12, 2024, for:
- Enticing a Minor under 16
- Sex Offender Registry Violation – Providing False Information.
Seton Kelly Smith, age 48, from Hampton, Iowa was arrested and charged on June 13, 2024, for:
- Enticing a Minor under 16
David William Wren Jr, age 55, from Cedar Rapids was arrested and charged on June 17, 2024, for:
- Enticing a Minor under 16.
Scott Philip Greenman, age 50, from Cedar Rapids was arrested and charged on June 18, 2024, for:
- Enticing a Minor under 16,
- Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor
- Interference with Official Acts
